Since the last post, we have enjoyed having Philip and Ruthie down here at Sacramento for a weekend (they had lots of laundry). We enjoyed a nice Bible study Friday night with three new guests (remember the lady we met on the trail up in Mt. Shasta? She brought her two daughters). We've studied the Beatitudes (thanks to Peter Gregory for nice sermon) and then focused on patience as the pinnacle of character development (James 1 and 5).

This week we're studying Salt and Light, so if anyone has any bright comments, please feel free to let me know!

The search for a church continues as we struck out at the two we visited this last weekend. They will remain confidential... One church, the pastor was singing to a rock music sound track, while the other had a SS class which started out by reading GC on "the judgment" and saying they didn't believe it. In defense of the second church, the sermon was on the day of atonement and, though carefully worded, was rather good. Some pastors won't even preach on the subject anymore.

We were blessed to have "Uncle Harold" Burden stay with us Sunday night. He was in town for a wedding (not his own). While he was here, we got to see the first rerun of our 3ABN program on CHIP. It went ok, though they did something to Rachel's voice to make her sound older or maybe just.... well... deeper it seems...

I'm looking forward to speaking at Weimar tomorrow night for their chapel. Trying to remember what it was like to be in highschool/college. Amazing how long ago that was! Also looking forward to speaking at the Davis church in two weeks.

Hope all of you reading this are doing well and planning to call or e-mail us soon! (Thus he demonstrates the patience of the saints...)

I say you go to the second church. It sounds like the pastor needs some better sabbath school teachers...he might be the only one "fighting" their beliefs. Thanks for the notes you all left on our blog. By the way, Rachel, my sister isn't coming to Sacramento for school after all. Love, Lana

Hi Eric and Rachael,
That experience sounds very similar to Dr. Nedley's story about finding a church where he was spiritually fed in Loma Linda. He said he went to a different church every week for six months before finding Jan Doward's church on the mountain! Now we're blessed to be able to attend Pastor Doward's church further north in Petrolia, CA..:)
We've been made aware of three churches in that area--two of which, you already know about by a few friends of ours. 1.)Sac. Central(Doug Batchelor's church) 2.) Weimar and 3.) Colfax SDA Church located off of I-80, Grass Valley exit--454 Scholtz Street (530)346-8844--the Pastor is Robert Ross. God bless you in your efforts!~jessi
