Hairoring adventures
So I'm in the midst of boards..... Two days of solid, hard testing.... My brain is nearly fried.
After the first test, today, I decided to get a much needed, long overdue hair cut. Unfortunately, as usually happens when I try to get a hair cut, I hadn't planned ahead. So... I decided I'd drive around until I found a place that would give me a hair cut. The first place I stopped was "Fasion design." It had a nice generic ring to the name so I though I'd check it out. Over top of the front window in very big, can't miss letters were the words "Walk ins are WELCOME!" With that kind invitation, I walked in. To my dissapointment, no one was there to greet me with open arms, offer me a seat in the best salon chair, and ask how they could be of service. Trying to hide my disappointment when a disgruntled "Fasion design" clerk finally looked up and acknowledged my presence I meekly pointed to the door and said "your sign says 'walk ins welcome' and I'm a walk in." There was an awkward pause. Uh, we, uh, don't have any openings right now. Can you come back in a few hours? FEW HOURS? Sure.... I thought about suggesting that maybe I could sue them for false advertising. Thankfully, my frontal lobe was working well and I was able to say "thank you, I might be back later." Which really meant, I would have to be really desparate to come back again.
That venture over, I was almost ready to give up when I spied, across the street, another hair salon-or so I thought. Eagerly getting back into my car, I navigated through the parking lot and across the four lane road to the other shopping complex. Perhaps, oh perhaps, there would still be a chance for me to get a hair cut!!
Unfortunately, my excitement was curbed slightly as I had trouble finding a parking spot. Succesful at last. I emerged from my car to check my luck. While walking to the door, I tried to think of some sort of flattering phrase that would somehow tie in that their local competers rejected ME a poor resident in desparate need of a hair cut and surely THEY would be more than happy to get my business. Thankfully, though, before I opened the door, I looked a little more carefully at the "salon" I was about to walk into. "H&R" A great name, I thought. Maybe it stands for "Hair and Rachel." Or, maybe not...this place doesn't really look like a salon, in fact, it looks like an office. I looked at the sign more carefully "H&R Block, free tax estimate." OHHHHH. From across the street it looked like "Hair Block." And I was about to go in and ask for a hair cut at a tax place. That would have been funny. Maybe I was a little more affected by the 8 hour test than I thought?!?!
I really was about to end my search there, but I spied a little hole in the wall beauty shop in the same complex with a teeny tiny sign that said "walk ins welcome." They were very nice and withing 5 mintues I was seated on a comfortable salon chair explaining to a really nice hair stylest what I wanted done. In 20 minutes I had probably one of the best hair cuts I've ever been given. So, my adventure ended happily. We'll see what tomorrow holds!
