Hello blogosphere,

Great to hear from Junior/Nicole Kumpel via post. Also got to catch up with a friend from SAU from a bit farther back in history. Jared Nudd, David Currier, Eugene Van Wyk, Loran Haugsted and I all shared an apartment in South Village for the 2001-2002 school year. Loran and Melissa Haugsted are expecting their second child. David Currier is likewise married and bringing forth offspring. I've lost track of Eugene after 2004, if anyone knows where he is, let me know.

But the subject of this post is Jared Nudd. He is currently doing something I am very envious of! Jared is throughhiking the Appalachian Trail. For those of you who are not familiar with this, he is hiking 2174 miles from Georgia to Maine. For those of you who know Jared, you can follow the adventures of Sagbutt (subtle music humor for music majors) on his blogsite: fastpack.blogspot.com.

On another front, WYC is coming along well. There are about 130 people registered so far and more checks in the mail.

Had a great weekend. Rachel and I went up to Mount Shasta for another weekend with the very hospitable Guthrie family. They were so hospitable, we took Philip and a friend of his from Weimar along too! Laurel graduated from academy on Sunday morning (even though she's already done a year of college. Sigh... those overachievers). Graduation was, of course, very musical with renditions of "La Campanella" on the piano and "Legende" on the violin by Laurel as well as the Telemann 4 violin concerto by all the siblings. Wonderful visiting was had by all and I'm still stuffed from all the great food. A simply marvelous carob cake was indescribably rich. We'll post some pictures of the weekend in our next post.

I took the first part of USMLE Step 3 today. So my brain is rather fried and I think I'll be off to bed.

God bless us, everyone.

Mom is terribly embarrassed about that cake... but I didn't do too much better... today's polenta was made with jalapenos instead of green chilis.... it DOES make a difference!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Eric,

It was great to see you yesterday!

I did see Eugene at KY-Tenn campmeeting (his dad works for the conference). He was there all week, so I'm assuming he lives in the area somewhere...
