I'm slowly emerging from the haze of the first two months of motherhood. I've sat down to blog at least 5-6 times in the last few months and gotten as far as the first few sentences. We'll see how far I get with this attempt. My baby is playing contentedly with her Fisher-Price animal mobile while Spanish proverbs are playing in the background. It's so hot, I have dressed her in only a diaper. I made the mistake of doing this in public a few weeks ago. We were attending meetings held outside in a tent. It was super hot (100F at least). We sat right in front of the fan, which made it sort of bearable. My poor baby kept fussing, so I finally took all her clothes off. She seemed a lot happier, that is until an old, white-haired grandma came over and quietly whispered "honey, I was a mom of 6 and a newborn nursery nurse for 20 years, I know a thing or two about children..." then the punch line, "your child needs clothes, SHE MIGHT CATCH A COLD!" Well, she's not caught a cold from the heat yet...
A lot has happened in the last months. I highlight them below:
6 weeks: Amy and I flew to OK for Syephanie's HS grad
-everyone thought I was a teenage mom and commented on how well I was doing
11 weeks: Amy, Eric and I flew to GA for her baby dedication.
-first little cold
13 weeks: WYC
-Amy and I helped babysit the Parker kids who thought she was a "cute little bundle of cuteness." If she started to cry I had 3 little helpers who would instantly look into her stroller and very loudly exclaim "PEEK-A-BOO." I was informed that babies LOVE "PEEK-A-BOO." Hmmm, I guess they do because she often stopped crying!
15 weeks: Trip to Mt, Shasta
-first swim in a lake
That's all I can write right now.
