throwing money at it

Amy disobeyed mommy and left two very nice books on the floor. Michael found one and managed to rip out the front page before I realized what was happening. I showed the torn page to Amy and explained that this would not have happened had she obeyed mommy and put the book away.

"It's OK, Mommy," she said, "We can fix it."

"No," I explained, "It's torn so badly that I can't fix it."

"Well," she replied, still unconcerned, "lots of money can fix it."
