Why I can't take a nap
So Eric wonders why I can never take a nap. Here is what happens:
11:55 am: Mommy is extremely tired. She realizes that to keep her sanity and get everything done that should be done she has GOT to take a nap. Mommy also thinks that Amy is acting tired and could use a nap as well. Thus, the following:
12:00 pm: Mommy feeds Amy lunch. During lunch she explains that Amy is VERY tired and will need a nap right after lunch (hoping to maximize postprandial affect).
12:45 pm: Amy is taken to the potty, read a story, and then tucked into her bed for a nap.
12:50 pm: Michael is breastfed in preparation for his nap.
12:55 pm: Amy informs mommy she isn't tired. Mommy tells her she can take a nap even if she isn't tired.
1:00 pm: Amy tries to sneak open the door to her room and is sent back to bed (but I'm NOT tired mommy!!!)
1:05 pm: Michael finishes his meal and starts babbling happily (obviously not tired)
1:10 pm: Amy announces she REALLY needs to pee-pee. Mommy tells her to take herself to the potty.
1:20 pm: Amy shows up in the toy room where Mommy's been trying to rock a very wide-awake Michael and announces she's WIDE awake and NOT sleepy.
1:25 pm: Mommy informs Amy that even though she's not sleepy Mommy is VERY sleepy and is going to lie down on the couch. Amy and Michael are to leave mommy alone.
1:26 pm: Amy announces that she is very tired as well and also needs to sleep on the couch. To which mommy says that it's too late she should have taken a nap when mommy suggested she take a nap. Mommy is going to take a nap now....
1:27 pm: Michael crawls into the room and starts pulling on mommy's blanket, mommy's hair, etc. Mommy carries Michael back into baby-proof toy room and sens Amy back into toy room with instructions to NOT open the door.
1:30 pm: Amy opens the door to "check on mommy" and Apparently Michael is spied the open door because Amy starts yelling, "Michael NO you can't come out of the room, Michael you have to stay in the toy room."
1:31 pm: Mommy once more deposits both children in the toy room. Amy is threatened with spankings, time-outs, etc. if the door is opened one more time.
1:31-1:37 pm: Mommy sleeps for 6 minutes.
1:37 pm: Amy yells: Mommy come get Michael, MOMMY COME GET MICHAEL!!!!!
1:38 pm: Mommy's cell phone rings.
1:39 pm: There is a THUD and Michael starts screaming
1:40 pm: Mommy is now WIDE awake and up investigating the cause of thud and crying--thankfully nothing serious.`
1:50 pm: Mommy starts blogging about her failed nap attempt.
