Happy birthday....
So Amy is fixated on Happy Birthday's. Not sure why, since we have only been to 1 kid's party (when she was 18 months) and a few adult parties. Anyhow, she has somehow gotten the notion that birthdays are wonderful, and she is fondly counting down the months until her birthday.
Out of the blue today at breakfast she started happily singing happy birthday to Nana.
"Amy," I said. "Nana's birthday isn't today, her birthday is in the month of April."
I was completely unprepared for the sudden heart wrenching sobbing that followed.
"Amy, what is the matter," I gently asked.
"Mom," Amy she wailed, "April is Amy's Happy birthday NOT Nana's!"
After I stopped laughing, I tried to explain that Amy and Nana both have birthday's in April. I'm not sure if she got the point, but it at least stopped the crying....
Later today she announced: "Mommy, I want Nana and Grandma Sherry to come to my happy birthday!"
"Why?" I asked.
"Because I want lots of presents."
Yes, she's figured that one out.
