Appropriately Grateful
After a short discussion about gratitude, Emanuella (age 5)'s mom asked her if she was grateful for her lunch.
"Oh, yes, it was yummy," was the immediate reply.
"Have you thanked Auntie Rachel?" Her mom asked.
"Thank you Aunty Rachel for the yummy food." Was the immediate parroted reply.
She was silent for a moment and then...
"Mommy, don't you think you and Aunty Rachel should be grateful to ME for playing with Amy SO nicely and not making a big mess and helping YOU set the table and sweep the floor?"
"Oh, yes, it was yummy," was the immediate reply.
