Marriage and Family through a 3 y/o's eyes

While intently studying my wedding photos, Amy asks, "Momma can I get married someday?"
"Of course," I respond. "When you get big you will get married and leave mommy and live with your husband."
There's a long pause. I look over and to my surprise her lower lip is quivering and big tears are starting to form.
"Amy," I gently ask, "what's wrong?"
"I don't want to get married, I want to live with you forever and ever!"

But while we are on the subject of marriage...
At the supper table one evening. Amy had a long discussion with daddy about why mommy should sit with her and not with daddy (Amy and Michael eat at a little table, daddy and mommy eat at a big table). Daddy finally pulled the marriage card.
"Mommy sits next to daddy because she is MARRIED to daddy and daddy likes to have mommy sit with him."
Not to be outdone she immediately shot back. "Mommy is ALSO married to me and to Michael so you have to SHARE mommy with us!"

Apparently though, she's figured out that certain steps come before marriage...at least a boyfriend. This afternoon she and Michael sat on the piano "playing" while Amy sang "I love my boyfriend, I will kiss my boyfriend, I will hug my boyfriend..." This was accompanied with loud kisses and affectionate hugs bestowed upon the willing Michael.
