Some meals are just like that

So today is one of those meals. I fixed left over beans, rice and vegetables. Enjoy the blow by blow account.
13:00: I start chopping up cucumbers for salad. "HELP, Mommy, I HELP Mommy." Michael comes dragging his stool over to the counter. I stop, take him to the bathroom, wash his snotty nose, wash his hands, dry his hands and we return back to the kitchen.
13:05: We start chopping vegetables. "MOMMY I WANT TO HELP, TOO!" Amy drags second stool over to the counter and tries to grab knife. I resist. "PLEASE Let me cut MY olives" she begs. I reluctantly let her cut her 4 olives in half. She actually does a pretty good job but takes FOREVER.
13:15: I place beans and rice into microwave to rewarm and start setting the table. Amy reminds me I promised she could sit on the stool. Yes, I remember. I put the old yellow chair in front of Michael's plate. Michael bursts into tears. "No yeyow chair mommy, Michael wants STOOL!" Michael is reminded that he had the stool at breakfast. The weeping and wailing continues so Michael is sent to time-out.
13:20: Microwave beeps and I take beans and rice dish out. Amy bursts into tears. "Mommy, I wanted my beans COLD. Make my beans COLD mommy...." She is sent to timeout to wait for the beans to cool down. Michael and I sit down and say the blessing.
13:25: Michael is sitting at his seat but not eating. "Mommy, 'peas' watermelon." He does have a lot of beans (which he doesn't really care for too much these days). I divide the beans in rice in half and instruct him to eat one portion, then he can have watermelon.
13:26 Amy comes out of time out a bit more cheerful and sits down to her warmish beans. While she chomps away the following dialogue is repeated at least every 30 seconds.
"Mommy, 'pease' watermelon....."
"No, eat your food."
"Watermelon, 'pease' watermelon....."
"No. EAT YOUR FOOD."
13:30: I emphatically tell Michael to stop asking for watermelon and eat his food. He bursts into tears and sobs inconsolably. I call my sister for moral support. Michael stops sobbing and takes a bite of beans (most of it goes over face and hands).
13:40: "Watermelon, 'pease' watermelon....." I remind Michael he has to finish half his food first.
13:41: Amy finishes her food and starts nibbling on Michael's cucumber. "MOMMY, dat's MICHAEL'S" another complete meltdown almost starts--but after assurance that I'll give him another cucumber, the sobs die away....
13:42:00: "Watermelon, 'pease' watermelon....." Finish your food.
13:42:30: "Mommy, 'pease' watermelon....." No.
13:43:00: "Watermelon, 'pease' watermelon....." (I feel like screaming). No. Stop asking.
13:43:30: ""Mommy, 'pease' watermelon....." OK young man. I've said NO, NO, NO. STOP ASKING.....
13:44:00: "Watermelon, 'pease' watermelon....." At this point I have to leave the table.
13:44:10: Complete meltdown occurs. I get my computer and start blogging to depersonalize it all and keep from pulling my hair out.
**And Eric, in case you wonder why I didn't put him into time out it's because his hands and face were covered in beans and I could only imagine what that would do to my white walls....**
13:50:00: Michael finishes most of his beans.
13:50:30: "Watermelon, 'pease' watermelon....." Finish your cucumber. Michael takes 1 bite.
13:51:00: "Watermelon, 'pease' watermelon....." Finish your cucumber. Michael takes another bite.
13:51:30: "Watermelon, 'pease' watermelon....." Finish your cucumber. Michael takes yet another bite.
This continues for the next 10 bites. Finally cucumber is finished.
13:55: "Mommy, 'pease' watermelon."
"YES! You can have watermelon. You have FINALLY finished half your beans and all your salad."
Amy starts clapping. I cut up watermelon into a bowel and place it in front of my eager son.
13:56:00 Michael takes exactly one bite of watermelon. "Mommy, 'pease' chips. Chips 'pease' mommy." Finish your watermelon. Michael takes another two bites.
13:56:30: "Chips mommy, 'pease' chips! Finish your watermelon. Silence. Michael takes another bite or two.
13:57: Salt Mommy, 'pease' salt." The watermelon is salted.
14:02:00: Watermelon is finally finished. Michael is "awarded" a handful of chips.
14:07:00: Michael finishes his chips. One more meal down in the saga of raising a 2 y/o and 4 y/o.
