This is Eric blogging for the first time at Rachel's command...

At lunch today (Rachel gone at work) Amy asks me, "Daddy how long will it take you to find me a husband?"

I thought about this one carefully... Finally I asked, "do you want a good one or a bad one?" Oh of course she wanted a good one. "In that case, it will take a long time..." "Well then, Daddy, why not start looking now?" Now I had to think even more carefully...

"Well, are you ready to get married?" Fortunately Amy realizes she is not. "I agree, and I don't think you'll be ready for a long time..."

To follow up my advantage, I turned the conversation toward a more profitable channel. "So Amy, I would start thinking about how you can be the kind of girl that a good husband would want to marry! Why do you think Daddy wanted to marry Mommy?" Amy came up with a few reasons that I supplemented. Hers: "Because Mommy reads the Bible a lot." "Mommy was a good girl." "Mommy dresses modestly." I agreed and added that Mommy keeps things very clean, practices hard, cooks well, never wears high heels, never colors her face or nails, never wears jewelry, and was always cheerful when she obeyed her mommy...

The conversation then turned to whether her princess dress was modest or not....
