Manipulation
Michael brought two cars to play with while we ran errands. Amy didn't bring any toys and eyed the cars jealously. She asked if Michael would share. He generously shared his green car. Apparently, however, Amy wanted the BLUE car. I thought about saying something about beggars can't be choosers but never had a chance. Michael quickry eplied that he was "being like Jesus because he had shared the green car with her and that was his favorite car." I think that was meant to settle the issue.
"But," says Amy, the blue car is your favorite. If you were REALLY like Jesus you would share that one with me.
"Yes," agreed Michael. But I'm still like Jesus. I shared my favorite car but I am still playing with my most favorite car."
"While I'm really going to be like Jesus," said my very sanctified daughter. "When I get home I will share my MOST FAVORITE toy. That's what Jesus would do."
"Which toy is that," Michael was now mildly interested in what he might get to play with at home.
"I don't know let me think for a long time." She replied with an air of authority.
Not 30 seconds later...
"My favorite toy is my red crown. The one we got in Sabbath school."
Given that it's a paper crown and pretty beat up I don't blame Michael for not being too impressed and deciding it not worth giving up his previous blue car..."
