Learning to cook
This summer we have been learning to cook. My aunt gave the kids a really nice kids cookbook, and we are making 3 new recipes out of it every week. I’m impressed with how well they are both doing. TodayMichael made two cakes pretty much all by himself. I did help with mixing but that was it. Oh, I also put it in the oven and took it out of the oven. Amy made zucchini bread all by herself (I did help with some of the mixing). Anyhow, I shouldn’t have been surprised when I got back from running to our neighbor’s house and the kids announced: “mom, we are going to make supper tonight and it is going to be FANTASTIC! We are going to use your beautiful dishes and arrange the food so it looks nice.” Well, they did do a “fantastic” job. And I sat down to a meal of smoothies, bread (they cut themselves), and a beautiful fruit platter. The table was fully set (and they hadn’t forgotten napkins). I am so proud of them both I could pop!
